Talking The 12 Steps & Actually Practicing It?
The 12 step program is a suggested set of steps formulated by 100 recovered addicts from the 1930’s.
The twelve step program, if worked correctly, still remains the most powerful way to adopt a new life of sobriety. The 12 steps are a spiritually based action program. They consist of steps that should be taken in order to achieve the spiritual awakening necessary to overcome the disease of addiction. Reading or studying the steps will never suffice. The action of the addict must be applied. The only necessary requirements are that the addict approaches the steps with vigorous honesty, open-mindedness and are willing to do what the steps require of them. The addict MUST be in a position where they have conceded to the fact that they are powerless over drugs or alcohol and nothing that they can personally do alone, has or will have any long term effect.
Our Sober Waters Retreat offers a unique setting in recovery from drugs and alcohol. We provided daily excursions in the Mediterranean Sea, along with twelve step guidance and navigation.
In addition we incorporate daily mediation and yoga practices into the program. The end results leaves you having worked the twelve step program, educated on various types of meditation and having an introduction into basic yoga practices.
